There are several hypotheses about what happened around the arrest of GERB leader Boyko Borissov, said Prof. Ivaylo Dichev. "The simplest thing is that the Minister of Interior just did something stupid, unprepared action. The second hypothesis from GERB - that a PR campaign is being carried out to divert attention, God knows what, from prices, etc. The third hypothesis I see in social networks, is that there is some information from Laura Coveschi, that she will be involved in this investigation and that in fact she is being tested by the prosecutor's office to be hit afterwards and that there are some documents for her, "said the anthropologist.

His sense in this regard is more general - "this country may not be governed democratically." According to him, these methods, which for years Boyko Borissov used to "overthrow the land and use force in general, must obviously be applied at the moment by the new government, which allegedly came with demands for democracy." For Dichev, this is a "sad finding, but I have the feeling that it will be very difficult and very slow to move to a regime of normal justice, normal relations in this area."

For his part, political scientist Parvan Simeonov commented that there was still some evolution in the repressive image of power. "We remember the arrests there were a decade ago and more. We remember how television justice was done. Politically, we have yet to see which interpretation will prevail," he said.

For his part, political scientist Daniel Smilov pointed out that there was a certain amount of carelessness in the actions of the Interior Ministry and the Kiril Petkov-Boyko Rashkov tandem regarding Borisov's arrest. "In just 24 hours, a lot of procedural and procedural errors were accumulated. Menda Stoyanova was first declared arrested, and then it turned out that this was not the case. It was announced that the European Prosecutor's Office was working on the issue, then it turned out to be incorrect. "Besides, there were many meetings and communications between Vasil Bozhkov on the one hand and Borisov, Goranov and Borisov's media adviser Sevdelina Arnaudova on the other," Daniel Smilov added.

Lawyer Velislav Velichkov commented that the surprise was great for the whole Bulgarian society, "simply because such a thing has never happened in Bulgaria". According to him, Bulgaria is the most corrupt country in the EU, and "we have always been like that, but in our country, such actions, accusations against prime ministers, even former ones, have not happened."

 

He said the first thing he thought about after learning about what was happening around Borisov was why there was talk of detention, given that at the time Borisov had not been detained but was being searched.
